"The Ark" is a bold, high-end dining experience brought to life within Shinsaegae Department Centum City in Busan, South Korea. Developed for Gordon Ramsay Burger, this restaurant stands out as a unique retail concept that redefines luxury dining in a space usually reserved for more casual food experiences. Positioned in the basement food court, the challenge was to design a distinguished and immersive environment amidst the vibrant chaos of a typical food court. The solution was an elegant and enclosed space, creating a refined sanctuary from the surrounding hustle and bustle.

The design takes inspiration from Busan’s status as a major port city, with the idea of a yacht or a ship’s hull at its core, evoking a sense of movement and discovery. The restaurant's form is large and imposing, yet luminous and inviting, achieved through strategic use of arched ceilings in warm cherry wood veneer and custom stainless steel LED light pillars. These pillars, which can be customized for different lighting moods, lend a human scale to the space, creating both intimate or dynamic atmosphere for guests.

The restaurant features unique and versatile seating arrangements, with curved banquettes and distinct zoning that allow for a variety of dining experiences. The VIP room, a standout feature, is set within a spherical form, offering a contrasting color palette to the warm tones of the main dining area, enhancing the restaurant’s layered storytelling. Every corner of the space has been designed to offer both comfort and sophistication, balancing the dynamic energy of a food court with the tranquility of a high-end restaurant.
